Coursework overview
This course can be taken in high school, known as AP Calculus AB, or in college, known as Calculus 1 (first year Single-Variable Calculus). It is a detailed and intriguing introduction to Calculus many students take after completing the Integrated Math sequence in high school. Calculus 1 introduces us to the idea of function approximation with limits, which paves the road for Differential Calculus and Integral Calculus. The course concludes with important applications of Calculus, such as Optimization and Related Rates. My tutoring offers a comprehensive guide through every concept covered in this course.
Concepts covered in this course include:
Secant & Tangent line slope
Using Limits to evaluate functions
Limit Continuity / Discontinuity
Limit Definition of a Derivative (both)
The 6 Differentiation Techniques
The 2 Integration Techniques
Fundamental Theorems of Calculus
L'Hôpital's Rule
Relative Maxima / Minima
MVT, Rolle's Theorem, IVT, EVT
Concavity & Points of Inflection
Area by Disks & Area by Washers
Average Value of a Function
Riemann Sums (all four types)
Cross Sections of Functions (all 5 types)
Physics Application (position vs velocity vs accel.)
Optimization Application
Related Rates Application
