Specific Work Experience and qualifications

Founder of Kaisei Learning

Founder of a STEM based tutoring organization (this) specialized in Calculus. Assisted 30+ students in AP Calculus AB/BC, all of which received a 5 or 4 on the AP Exam. Explained concepts and helped boost performance using alternative and appropriate teaching methods (analogies, visuals, interactives, and more). Created a social media page on Instagram & YouTube with in-depth uploads for anyone to gain free access to tutoring indefinitely.

Founded in 2023

Taught high level competition mathematics to the middle school math team at BMMS. With a couple high school friends, we prepared 26 comprehensive slideshows covering topics ranging from quadratics and polynomials to combinations and permutations, number theory, 2D & 3D geometry, and more. We presented our slideshows each Wednesday morning and assigned follow-up homework throughout the week, preparing our bright students to participate in local math competitions including the AMC, Mathcounts, & MOEMS.

March 2024 - June 2025

Assisted students from 1st Grade to 11th Grade in subjects including Mathematics, English, & History, working on a plethora of studies from handwriting legibility to the Difference of Cubes formula. Met with students 1-2 times per week, enhancing understanding and enthusiasm towards their school subjects.

January 2025 - June 2025

USD VisMO Fold-Ed Origami Program participant

Certified by the University of San Diego to teach visuospatial skills and mathematical thinking. Studied a 1-month, origami-focused curriculum supported by the National Science Foundation and designed by cognitive psychologists, mathematics educators, learning scientists, and origamists. Taught under Professor Kristin Komatsubara & Professor Celina Gonzalez, I refined my abilities to implement hands-on learning & creative expression as a means of mathematically educating peers.

July 2025 - August 2025

Westview High School Peer Tutor

Dedicated 70+ hours working with a range of students including academic peers, ESL learners, and special needs students. Strengthened their comprehension where necessary - whether that's using a visual to explain a mathematical concept, conversing in foreign languages to elucidate English grammar, or play fighting to depict historical events.

September 2023 - July 2024

Community Enrichment & Fun Facts

Nominated to join a selective high school program as an ambassador. Conducted community outreach to local Elementary Schools by reinforcing the 6 pillars of character (Responsibility, Trustworthiness, Respect, Fairness, Caring, Citizenship). Deepened students understanding by performing short creative skits & coordinating interactive playdate activities.

August 2024 - June 2025

Selected to take part in my high school's Link Crew Organization. Welcomed and assisted the incoming freshman class as they transitioned into High School. Fostered a gentle and compassionate space for students via offering academic advice, holding bonding events/festivals, staying in contact throughout the year over online text, or simply talking about life in the afternoons.

May 2024 - June 2025

Instructed 100+ soccer athletes during a 5-day overnight camp at Loyola Marymount University. Training sessions included improving tactical awareness by introducing cognitive multitasking activities into soccer drills, emphasizing proper soccer techniques by dedicating time to the fundamentals (juggling, dribbling, passing), and promoting mental discipline & leadership through group collaboration. Post training evenings consisted of informative seminars reviewing insights about the highs and lows of college/professional sports.

Summer 2025

Led 3 week-long STEAM camps with Challenge Island, educating students in a hands-on, friendly environment. Camp activities tested students' creative expression and innovative abilities by repurposing unused household items (cups, straws, markers, index cards, rubber bands, and more) to construct scientific models to articulate STEAM inventions, such as using physics to build miniscule rockets and roller coasters.

Westview

WOLVERINE OF THE YEAR

Awarded by Principal Ernie Remillard

Honored as the 2024-25 Wolverine of the Year, a prestigious award given to

2 out of 538 students that school year. (School mascot is a wolverine).

"Alex is a true star at Westview and exemplifies the Wolverine Way by actively contributing to a positive school community. In the 2 years I have known Alex, I do not think I have ever seen him without a smile on his face. He sees the positive in every situation and has a true passion for life and the people around him. Whether it is in the classroom, performing skits in front of hundreds of people as an Ambassador, or making helpful math videos, Alex radiates compassion and kindness. For example, one night I was helping my daughter with a math problem and we just could not figure it out. I decided to reach out to Alex and he responded moments later with the most detailed and thoughtful and organized writing explanation. He even followed up the next day to make sure I understood! Alex is truly one of a kind and without any doubt should be selected as Wolverine of the Year."
